The main components are usually tungsten, cobalt, titanium, tantalum, and/or nickel, with cobalt and nickel serving as binders to provide the necessary toughness and strength.
Carbides are produced through powder metallurgy. Tungsten powder and binder are mixed in powder form, pressed, and sintered at high temperatures. During sintering, the powder particles compact into a solid structure. Carbides are extremely hard, can withstand high mechanical stress, and are resistant to heat and corrosion. Therefore, they are primarily used in manufacturing cutting tools, forming tools, and wear parts, making them indispensable in modern industries.
